Santa Clara, CA: Volkswagen has agreed to either fix or buy back some 500,000 VW and Audi diesel vehicles in the US equipped with illegal emissions software designed to hide nitrogen oxide emissions. Jersey City, NJ: The state of New Jersey is following the lead of other jurisdictions in filing a Volkswagen lawsuit against Volkswagen Group of America Inc. and other defendants, alleging consumer fraud and violations of The Clean Air Act. Washington, DC: At one time the VW brand was amongst the most revered badges in the world, so much so that VW’s almost 10-year-old “Das Auto” (The Car) campaign suggests in marketing parlance that when a consumer thinks of a car, the only car one needs to consider is the VW. That all changed last year, when consumers and pundits began thinking in terms of das Täuschung (The Deception) over the emissions scandal. El Segundo, CAAnyone reading the news is likely aware of the recent Volkswagen recall, in which almost 500,000 diesel Volkswagens have been recalled due to the use of defeat devices that help the automobiles pass emissions testing. Lawsuits have already been filed against Volkswagen, with attorneys investigating further claims against the carmaker. Customers who purchased the affected Volkswagens allege in their lawsuits that they have been harmed financially by Volkswagen’s actions.

VW and independent dealerships are now stuck with millions of dollars of inventory they can’t legally sell.
