Small Plane Crash at Birmingham International Kills One

One person has been killed in a small plane crash in Birmingham Wednesday. The Beech BE-58 took off from Morristown Municipal Airport, headed for Birmingham International Airport. The Beech BE-58 was approaching a runway at Birmingham International when it crashed.

Authorities report that the plane circled the airport at least once before plummeting into a nearby intersection at 7th Avenue North and 80th Street in the East Lake neighborhood, about 50 yards from a house. Firefighters were called to the scene

Kathleen Bergen, a spokesperson for the Federal Aviation Authority, said the name of the person killed has not been released, however the plane is registered to Sutters Mill Gold & Jewelry, also known as Pee Wee's Pawn in Pelham, Alabama.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
