Louisiana Citizen's Insurance Settles Class Action for $35 Million


This is a settlement for the Bad Faith Insurance lawsuit.

Victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita who filed a class action suit against the insurer Louisiana Citizens Insurance Corp, will finally be receiving some financial compensation. The board of the insurance company has agreed to pay $35 million to settle the class action, which alleged that the company was late in paying polyholders' claims resulting from the hurricanes.

There are approximately $35,000 claimants who may receive up to $1,000 each from the settlement fund.
