Needy Children

Miami Gardens, FL: (May-19-08) Andre Johnson, a two-time Pro Bowler for the Houston Texans, organized a charity event in South Florida, in which he paid nearly $26,000 for hundreds of children's bicycles for his foundation's May 2008 event in Miami Gardens. According to the contract with Wal-Mart, the purchase was to include free ice and water for the youngsters.

A dispute arose after a Wal-Mart employee revoked the beverage offer without notice. The employee said that he took the decision as the retailer could not immediately supply all the bikes that Johnson had ordered. As part of a settlement reached between the parties, Wal-Mart agreed to supply 400 bicycles, plus free ice, water, and food to the next event.
