Carson Nugget

Carson City, NV: (May-19-08) The Carson Nugget brought charges against the city of Carson, over a street abandonment dispute. The dispute stemmed from the city's trying to charge the casino for sections of Plaza Street and Spear Street bought in the 1970s and early 1980s. A court ruling sided with the casino, ordering the city to pay the Nugget over $300,000 to resolve litigation.

Under the terms of the settlement agreement, Carson City will fund a $50,000 study of downtown redevelopment and the Carson Nugget's place in it. The purpose of the investigation, to be performed by Nevada-based Applied Analysis will be to focus on expansion of the Nugget, while others will consider restaurants, shops, housing and entertainment venues elsewhere in the area.

Sources stated that the street abandonment settlement will give the casino about $300,000 plus decades of interest, could be enough to get construction started. [RENO GAZETTE-JOURNAL: NEW CITY-FUNDED STUDY WILL FOCUS ON EXPANDING NUGGET]
