Building Satisfaction

Nimishillen, OH: (Mar-17-08) R.P. Babik Construction and B&J Electric brought a lawsuit against Nimishillen township, over costs associated with the building of a new fire station. The suit, filed in 2006 claimed that the township owed the contractors money for their work on the station and dispatch center at 8000 Columbus Rd. NE. The dispute centered on the trustees' dissatisfaction with the condition of the parking lot and sidewalk.

Sources state that the parties had reached a settlement in the case, in which Nimishillen township trustees agreed to an over $100,000 payout to resolve allegations brought by the two contractors. Most township officials stated that they thought the settlement was unfair as the taxpayers were paying twice for the building.

Under the terms of the agreement, R.P. Babik will get $100,000, and B&J Electric should receive $17,000. Township officials stated that Nimishillen Township is expected to receive about $17,000 from insurance carriers representing the two contractors. [CANTON REP: NIMISHILLEN TO SETTLE STATION SUIT]
