Canceled Contract

This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.

Allegheny, PA: (Jan-28-08) Moore Boehm Enterprises Inc. of Carnegie and Pittsburgh Stage Inc. of Pittsburgh, brought a lawsuit against Moon Area School District, over a heating, ventilation and air conditioning contract. The suit stated that the contracts were part of a plan to build a new high school and renovate the current high school as a middle school that was scrapped in 2005. Amended plans called for a $65 million project for a new middle school and renovating the high school. By November 2007, the cost of the project had increased to $83.5 million. The dispute arose when the school decided in 2005 to cancel the $76 million construction project for a new high school and renovated middle school.

As part of a settlement reached, the Moon Area School Board has approved two settlements totaling $98,500, resolving the lawsuits. Moore Boehm Enterprises will receive $45,000 for the heating, ventilation and air conditioning contract as part of the new high school project, and Pittsburgh Stage Inc. will get $53,500 for stage equipment that was associated with the plan.
