Fake iPods

Atlanta, GA: (Jan-07-08) The Governor's Office of Consumer Affairs brought charges against Shay Zvi Lahav and his companies, alleging he violated the Fair Business Practices Act by settling phony Apple Inc. iPods. The companies named in the suit are Easy Sale 4U LLC doing business as iPod World and Accessories 2000 LLC. Sources stated that the fake iPod Nano and Shuffle mp3 players were sold at kiosks called iPod World at Lenox Mall in Atlanta, Cumberland Mall in Atlanta, North Point Mall in Alpharetta, Town Center Mall in Kennesaw, Mall of Georgia in Buford, Macon Mall in Macon and Hamilton Place Mall in Chattanooga, Tenn. The counterfeit products also were advertised and sold through the company's web site. An undercover investigation revealed that the facilities sold FM transmitters to MP3 docking stations with speakers.

Although none of the items for sale were authentic Apple products, the appearance, design, packaging, function and pricing of many of the items were virtually identical to those of genuine Apple products, specifically Apple's iPod Shuffle and Nano and their accessories. As part of a settlement reached with the Governor's Office, Lahav and his companies agreed to pay $20,000 to resolve allegations. [ATLANTA BUSINESS CHRONICLE: FAKE IPODS]
