Boeing Co.

Wichita, KS: (Jul-16-07) The US Attorney Eric Melgren's office brought a lawsuit against Boeing Co., alleging that the company over billed for materials used in installing new KC-135 aircraft engines and RC-135 reconnaissance aircraft. The materials included nuts, bolts, rivets and fasteners. The suit accused Boeing of charging for the materials even though those costs were included in the company's contract with the government. Boeing stated that the contract allowed the transfer of costs, so the billing was not done improperly. In a settlement reached, Boeing agreed to pay $1,093,236 to the federal government for the refund of the charges plus interest. [INTERNATIONAL HERALD TRIBUNE: MATERIALS BILLING]
