Tuolumne County, CA

This is a settlement for the Commercial lawsuit.

Tuolumne County, CA: (Mar-21-07) Mountain View-based Ferma Corporation sued Tuolumne County for $3.56 million in October 2005, four months after it finished work to permanently close the Jamestown Landfill. The 54-acre Jamestown Landfill, an old dump site, had to be sealed under a layer of clay to prevent rainwater from mixing with buried garbage and contaminating groundwater. Ferma was awarded a $4.47 million contract in 2003 to complete the closure of the landfill, including putting a clay cover over steep portions of the landfill. Ferma filed suit alleging that it was entitled to more money than it was paid. The county reached an settlement with Ferma by agreeing to pay $1 million as well as $266,606, an amount the company was due from the original contract, ending all litigation claims.
