Kazaa

New York, NY: The National Music Publishers' Association filed a lawsuit against the file sharing company for allegedly facilitating the illegal distribution of copyrighted material. The United States District Court in Los Angeles was notified that the two sides had reached an agreement in principle. Kazaa agreed to pay music publishers and songwriters a substantial sum; although the actual figure was not disclosed, a person with knowledge of the terms of the deal said it was about $10 million.
