California Plane Crash Kills Three

A plane crash at a horse corral in California recently killed three people and three horses, according to a Los Angeles County coroner's investigator.

County Fire Inspector Matt Levesque said a single-engine Cirrus SR22 crashed near a barn in Agua Dulce, California, reports the Associated Press. The three horses on the ground were killed in the incident and a fourth one was injured.

Ian Gregor, a spokesman for the Federal Aviation Administration, told the news source that the small plane departed from Van Nuys Airport and was going to Parker, Arizona.

Neighbor Scott Strickland said that he heard the noise caused by the plane crash and headed out to see what had happened.

"The two horses are on fire and I just see smoke everywhere," Strickland said. "I saw somebody yell 'grab a gun.' Somebody grabbed a gun, came over and put the horse out of his misery 'cause he was just on fire;' you couldn't do much after that," he told KCAL-TV.

Gregor said that the cause of the plane crash is being investigated.
