. By
Kansas City, MOA Kansas City car accident near the Pico-Union neighborhood early Sunday morning took a bizarre twist when bystander hijacked the car of a Good Samaritan nurse who stopped to help the accident victim.

The nurse, whom police did not identify publicly, was filling up her car at a gas station when 27-year-old Jasen Jack slammed into a traffic signal pole across the street. The pole fell, injuring a pedestrian. Upon witnessing the accident, the nurse left her keys in her car and ran across the street to help. At that point, Deserie Guzman, 28, seized the opportunity to hijack her vehicle.

When she saw the carjacker speeding off down the freeway, the nurse ran back to her car to prevent the theft. She was dragged 20 feet down the road and was later hospitalized for her injuries.

Police arrested Jack, who caused the original accident, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated. The injured pedestrian has since died.
