Boy Narrowly Survives Stevens Johnson Syndrome Ordeal

London, England An eleven-year-old boy narrowly survived his ordeal with Stevens Johnson syndrome after taking ibuprofen, one of the drugs that has been linked to SJS and its more severe form, toxic epidermal necrolysis (TEN). Meanwhile, Dilantin, another drug that has been linked to SJS and TEN, is the focus of an SJS lawsuit alleging the drug is unreasonably dangerous.

Dilantin 'Dangerous and Lethal Drug:' Lawsuit Says

Washington, DC Various pharmaceutical drugs can trigger Stevens Johnson Syndrome. Dilantin is among them. Thus, Dilantin SJS is an issue that should be of concern to any patient prescribed to take Dilantin, given the possibility of a life-changing or even life-threatening illness.

Stevens Johnson Syndrome Difficult to Diagnose

Santa Fe, NM For patients dealing with Stevens Johnson Syndrome, getting an appropriate diagnosis can be difficult. Doctors may misread the symptoms and diagnose a less serious condition. Furthermore, if patients are not aware that SJS is one of the reported Dilantin side effects, or a possible side effect from another medication, they may not think to tell doctors that their Dilantin could be linked to their symptoms. The problem is, however, that quick diagnosis is vital to ensuring the patient survives her ordeal.

Dilantin SJS Is a Life-Threatening Side Effect

But many may not be aware of the risk of Stevens Johnson Syndrome that is reportedly linked to the use of Dilantin. Stevens Johnson Syndrome, also called SJS, is a rare but life-threatening allergic reaction to medication, and some cases of SJS have reportedly been linked to the use of Dilantin.

SJS Dilantin: "My Mother Died in Agony"

White Oak, PA Rebecca's mother died in 1978. Her autopsy reports that the cause of death was Stevens Johnson Syndrome (SJS), and doctors explained to Rebecca that the cause of SJS was an allergic reaction to Dilantin. Rebecca knows that she cannot file a SJS Dilantin lawsuit due to the statute of limitations, but she welcomes the opportunity to warn the public about this anti-seizure drug.

Dilantin SJS Lawsuits Filed

Atlanta, GA Lawsuits have reportedly been filed against the makers of both brand-name and generic Dilantin, alleging patients suffered life-threatening Dilantin side effects. Among the reported side effects is an increased risk of a serious condition known as Stevens Johnson Syndrome, known also as SJS. SJS has also been linked to other medications.

Scientists Discover Way to Warn of Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

Liverpool, UK British and Irish scientists have reportedly discovered a way to warn patients if they will suffer adverse reactions—such as Stevens-Johnson Syndrome—after taking epilepsy treatments, the Irish Times reports.

Lawsuit Filed against Dilantin Maker for Stevens Johnson Syndrome

New Orleans, LA The maker of Dilantin faces lawsuits alleging the drug is linked to Stevens Johnson Syndrome, a rare but potentially fatal condition brought about by an allergic reaction to medication. According to the lawsuit, Pfizer, maker of Dilantin, failed to adequately warn patients about the risk of SJS. By the time the Stevens Johnson syndrome symptoms appeared, it was too late for patients to do anything to prevent the condition.
