Reports of Cuts Requiring Surgery Prompts Recall of Razor Scooters


Scooters Sold Nationwide to Children

About 103,000 Razor PowerWing 3-Wheel scooters are being recalled because the undersides of the foot platforms can have sharp edges, posing a laceration hazard to children.

So far, Razor has received 10 reports of Achilles tendon or ankle lacerations, including reports from 4 consumers who required tendon surgery and 3 who needed stitches.

This recall involves products with serial numbers beginning with: Y0708, Y0709, Y0710, Y0711, Y0712, Y0801, Y0802, Y0803, Y0804,Y0805,Y0806, Y0807,and Y0808.

The scooters were sold in either black or silver, at authorized retailers nationwide and online from October 2007 through September 2008 for about $100.
