Paula Deen Cast Iron Cookware Recalled

About 51,000 pieces of Paula Deen® Hammered Cast Iron Cookware are being recalled because the cookware can crack or shatter, posing burn and laceration hazards to consumers.

To date, the retailer, QVC, and distributor, Meyer Trading, have received 79 reports of the cookware cracking or shattering while heated. One consumer reported a minor burn injury to an arm.

This recall involves the Paula Deen® 11-inch cast iron grill pans and griddles. They were sold as QVC item numbers K14984, K11970 and K135024. The cookware is black and has the Paula Deen® logo and the product size engraved on the bottom. No other Paula Deen® cookware is involved in this recall.

The cookware was sold through QVC's televised shopping programs, its Web site www.qvc.com, and QVC retail and employee stores from October 2007 through July 2009 for between $35 and $55.

My Paula Dean 11" cast iron skillet has only been used a handful of times and the bottom has missing coating. I am afraid use the skillet because of the exposed bottom and even more afraid of possibly ingesting the coating from the last time I cook.

I purchased a Paula Deen cast iron skillet and fry pan and they are peeling black chips into my food. At first I thought it was because I like my food slightly burnt now that I look at the pans I'm sure that they must have a coating that is peeing off. I'm afraid that it could be toxic and would like to know where I can find out what is in the coating. This never happened to the old cast iron skillets and I'm really disappointed in this product. I'd like a refund but don't have the receipts any longer but I'm more concerned about what I've ben ingesting by using this cookware.

I just found out that my grill pan with press is on recall from 2009, didn't know about it and called QVC about it and they said they new nothing about it. It was a gift and i have used it a few times. But if it is on recall where would i get it replaced? Do you know anything about this. i don't want to get hurt or my children get hurt when using... I have a Paula Deen cast iron skillet that is peeling inside is there a place where I can send it for a refund? I don't want a replacement. It looks like most of her products are defective.
