Reports of Fire, Property Damage, Prompt Recall of Clothing Irons


About 45,000 clothing irons distributed by Conair Corporation are being recalled because the iron can overheat, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

To date, Conair has received 3 reports of overheating, including 2 fires resulting in property damage.

This recall involves Conair clothing irons with model numbers DPP1500, DPP1500R and DPP3500. The model number is printed below the soleplate. No other models are included in this recall.

The irons were sold at department retail stores nationwide from October 2008 through March 2009 for about $50.
