Denture cream poisoning can lead to lupus

. By
While denture cream may be designed to keep a person's teeth in their mouth, reports continue to mount about the possible zinc poisoning associated with the seemingly harmless product.

DenturesUS Recall News stated that numbness, muscle weakness and pain in the fingers and toes are all possible side effects from denture cream containing zinc.

Though many health experts will say zinc is important for one's health, an overabundance of the mineral can lead to zinc poisoning.

This has led to many people filing lawsuits against GlaxoSmithKline and Procter & Gamble, claiming the creams have caused neurological diseases in those who used them regularly.

US Recall News warns that denture creams with zinc can lead to lupus, an autoimmune disorder in which a person's healthy cells are attacked by the disease. When left untreated, lupus can cause damage throughout the body including nerve damage, numbness and hair loss.

Recently Procter & Gamble responded to the ongoing issue and stated their product contains a small amount of zinc to help dentures stay securely in place.ADNFCR-2533-ID-19369262-ADNFCR
