America First Communities

Bellevue, WA: (Jul-22-07) The city of Bellevue filed a lawsuit against America First Communities, alleging that it was missing out on income because the company hadn't applied for city building permits or paid the fees for construction in the Capehart housing area near Offutt. In a settlement reached, America First agreed to pay the city $1 million. Under the settlement, the city will receive $282,750 now, plus $655,714 over the next 3½ years. In turn, the city will conduct reviews to ensure that 846 homes being built and 354 homes being rehabilitated at Capehart conform with plans and city codes. Additionally, America First may add additional homes to the project and would pay the city accordingly. The group also will pay the city more if the project is not completed before March 2011.
