Houston, TX: (May-02-07) The US Environmental Protection Agency filed charges against Kinder Morgan Energy Partners LP, alleging that one of the company's master limited partnership subsidiaries was in violation of air and hazardous waste regulations. The EPA claimed that Kinder Morgan Transmix Co. had violated certain environmental laws which came to light in 2003 to 2004, one of the violations included blending hazardous waste with gasoline. Consumers complained that gasoline produced at a Kinder blending plant in Indianola, PA, was making their vehicles stall. In a settlement reached with two related Kinder Morgan gasoline facilities located in Colton, CA, and Richmond, VA, Kinder Morgan agreed to pay $600,000 to settle allegations. The Richmond facility is required to pay an additional penalty of $13,000 for failing to monitor gasoline contents, as required by the Clean Air Act. [HOUSTON BUSINESS JOURNAL: GAS BLENDING]
