Provo, UT: (Feb-07-07) A lawsuit filed by Utah state environmental officials against Ensign-Bickford charged it with groundwater contamination in Mapleton. The groundwater contamination occurred when chemicals from Ensign-Bickford's Trojan explosives plant in Spanish Fork seeped into the area's aquifer. A final settlement reached will see Ensign-Bickford pay $9.375 million in financial assurance for pumping and treating the groundwater and another $2.58 million for a trust fund for natural-resource damage.
