Lawrence Lasser

The Securities and Exchange Commission filed charges against the Former Putnam Investments Chief Executive claiming he oversaw improper payments to brokers. Putnam compensated brokers, who in return, provided heightened visibility in selling the firm's mutual funds to clients. Lasser allegedly knew of the arrangements, but failed to adequately disclose them to the company's board. Lasser agreed to a $75,000 fine. (Jan-10-07) [LOS ANGELES TIMES: PUTNAM BROKERS]
