American Stock Exchange et al.

This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.

New York, NY: A class action lawsuit was filed against financial exchanges and market makers for conspiring to fix pricing on stock option contracts. The case was filed against American Stock Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange, the Pacific Exchange Inc., the Philadelphia Stock Exchange Inc., Bear Stearns Cos., Goldman Sachs Group Inc., and 14 other market making firms and specialists. The class claimed the companies violated antitrust laws by restricting the listing and trading of some stock option contracts to a single exchange which limited competition and increased trading costs. A Manhattan federal judge has approved a $46.9 million class action settlement. (Dec-05-06) [REUTERS: STOCK OPTION ANTITRUST]
