Kansas City - Mr and Ms Speakman purchased an Eagle Talon for their son from the automobile dealership. After the car lost a wheel on an exit ramp, they found out the vehicle's odometer was off. The Speakmans filed a lawsuit against Neil's Finance Plaza claiming the dealer misrepresented the mileage as the car actually had 100,000 miles more than they told them when they bought it. A jury awarded $39,000 in actual damages and $1 million in punitive damages; $500,000 against Neil's Finance Plaza and $500,000 against Regency Financial Corp., which handled the car loan.
