Microsoft Corp. Class Action Dismissed

This is a settlement for the Antitrust lawsuit.

Several class action lawsuits were filed against the computer company for allegedly using a monopoly on PC operating systems to overcharge consumers for their products. The case was filed on behalf of all those who indirectly purchased Windows, Word and other Microsoft software during the 90's. The class alleged Microsoft caused consumers direct injuries by suppressing competitive technologies, restricting the terms of end-user licenses and degrading computer performance. The Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals dismissed the case because consumers did not directly buy their software from Microsoft, but through computer makers and retailers. (Apr-19-06) [MARKET WATCH]
