Torys LLP

Hollinger International Inc. filed a lawsuit against one of Canada's most prominent law firms for its role in a series of deals that pocketed tens of millions of dollars. The case claimed Torys breached its duty to act in the company's best interests during transactions that enriched Lord Black. Torys was simultaneously advising separate parties during the transaction without client consent. Torys has agreed to pay a $30 million settlement. (Nov-29-05) [GLOBE AND MAIL]
