Surpass Chemical

After a forklift accidentally punctured a plastic container, three to four hundred gallons of acetic acid spilled out in North Albany. The acid is a major component in household vinegar and has the ability to cause respiratory irritation. Although having a characteristically pungent odor, it is not particularly dangerous after it dissipates into the air. Eight people claimed they suffered permanent health problems as a result of a previous spill in 1997 and collected a $3.3 million settlement from the company as a result. (Jun-20-05) [WTEN NEWS]
