The nation's third largest oil company was ordered to pay a $4.5 million fine and invest $525 million into renovating their pollution control system. The Environmental Protection Agency said ConocoPhillips allegedly violated the US Clean Air Act by submitting tens of thousands of tons of nitrogen oxide and sulfur dioxide into the environment.
