U.S. District Court judge Richard M. Berman in the Southern District of New has approved a settlement of up to $205 million in the 27 class-action lawsuits filed against UPS since 1999 on behalf of anyone who bought "excess value" package insurance between August 1994 and October 2003. The suit alleged that the company overcharged for this package insurance, and according to the settlement, anyone who can prove that they purchased the insurance during the class period will receive a free shipping voucher from the company.
