A settlement of approximately $278.5 million has been reached in the lawsuit filed by state and federal environmental regulators. The suit alleged that the company's plants located in El Segundo, Richmond, Pascagoula, Kapolei, and Salt Lake City were emitting more pollution than permits allowed, and that "extremely hazardous substances" had been released into the air.
