A Missouri school superintendent was recently injured in a Springfield Motorcycle accident.

Dan Decker, superintendent of the Aurora R-8 School District, was traveling eastbound on Route 60 on a 2005 Honda motorcycle, according to the Aurora Advertiser.

Patsy Watson, of Verona, was driving southbound in a 1996 Ford Explorer, and she did not yield, pulling into Decker's path, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Decker struck the Ford, which veered off the road and overturned as a result. The superintendent was taken by helicopter to Cox South Hospital in Springfield, Missouri, where he was treated for serious injuries. Watson was taken to the same hospital in an ambulance and was treated for minor injuries.

School officials said that Decker's condition had "stabilized."

"I know the family appreciates your thoughts and prayers," wrote Dr. Lucy Lyon, assistant superintendent, in a message to school personnel, reports the news provider.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there were 960 fatal accidents on Missouri roads in 2007.
