Washington, DCMcNeil Consumer Healthcare, a division of McNEIL-PPC Inc, has announced that it is recalling five product lots as an addition to the list of products included in the company's product recall on January 15, 2010.
In a press release issued 6/15/10, the company stated that action was being taken because the additional products were "inadvertently omitted from the initial recall action."
This addition to the January recall involves four product lots of Benadryl Allergy UltratabTM Tablets 100 count sold across the US.
One lot of Extra Strength Tylenol Rapid Release Gels 50 count rapid release gelcaps are also being recalled, for the same reason They were sold in the US, Trinidad and Tobago, Bermuda, and Puerto Rico.
The January 15 recall was initiated as a result of consumer complaints of a musty or moldy odor. Subsequent investigations revealed that the odor was linked with the presence of trace amounts of a chemical called 2,4,6-tribromoanisole (TBA). Further investigation showed that the presence of TBA was the result of a breakdown of a chemical that is applied to wood used to build pallets that transport and store product packaging materials.
