Nordic Track Revitalize, Gold's Gym, and Weider Club Inversion Benches Recalled

Washington, DC: ICON Health & Fitness Inc, is recalling about 33,000 Nordic Track Revitalize, Gold's Gym, and Weider Club Inversion Benches because the ankle clamp can release unexpectedly or the strap used to limit rotation can break, posing a fall hazard to consumers.

ICON Health & Fitness, the distributor of the products, has received 75 reports of incidents involving the strap breaking or the ankle clamp releasing, including 23 injuries, some of which were to the head and neck.

This recall involves the Nordic Track Revitalize Inversion Bench 2.0 model 831.14895.0, Gold's Gym Inversion System models GGBE0867.0 and GGCCBE0867.0 and Weider Club Inversion System model WEBE0878.0. The model number is located under the backrest of the bench. The inversion systems consist of a frame with a backrest, headrest and leg clamp assembly.

The benches were sold at sporting good stores, Walmart, Sears and other retailers nationwide from April 2008 through February 2009 for between $200 and $300.

On 2/18.2020 I was on my Golds Gym inversion table, completely upside down, when the weld point where the backboard connects to the crossbar broke. The board did come free from the frame. I was holding the sidebars and calling for help as my ankles were held fast by the clasp system. My wife was awake fortunately and came to the basement after hearing my calls for help. She was unable to move the board, so all she could do was release my ankles and let me fall to the ground. My ankles and lower legs were bruised. I was unable to ever reach anyone from Golds Gym equipment.

In October I was the victim of a Gold’s gym Icon fitness inversion table dislodging at the footing. As a result I suffer from paralysis and electrical burning in both arms and my spinal chord has been injured. I have seen 2 neurosurgeons and both have told me surgery is my only option. I am scheduled for spinal surgery on Feb 7. This will be 4 months from the accident. I am terribly frightened outraged a emotional physical and finisncal basket case because of this occurrence. I have seemed legal help but still have not gotten any solid answers.
