Nexgrill Industries Recalls 86,000 Gas Grills for Repairs, Sold Exclusively Through Home Depot

On September 8th, 2004 Nexgrill Industries of City of Industry, California announced that it was recalling about 86,000 Charmglow® Gas Grills due to reports that the propane tank and manifold run too close to the firebox, which could melt the rubber hose causing it to leak propane gas. This creates a fire and explosion hazard to property and consumers.

Nexgrill has received five reports of fires involving hoses leaking gas and 45 additional reports of incidents possibly indicative of gas leaks. The company did not state if any injuries or property damage had been reported.

The recalled Charmglow® Gas Grills have a model number of 720-0036-HD-05, which can be found on the back of the grill. The stainless steel grill is powered by propane gas. The name of the grill is located at the left corner of the exterior of the main burner lid. A temperature gauge is located at the center of the main burner lid.

Manufactured in China, these gas grills were sold exclusively through The Home Depot stores from November 2004 through June 2005 for about $350.

Consumers are cautioned to stop using the gas grill immediately and to contact Nexgrill Customer Service to receive a free replacement, self-installed repair kit.
