Log Splitters Recalled Due to Amputation Hazard

Washington, DC: The CPSC and Health Canada have announced a recall of MTD Log Splitters due to an amputation hazard. The recall was announced because the log splitter's control handle can fail to return to the neutral position which could fail to stop the splitting wedge from moving forward. This poses an amputation risk to the user's hands and fingers. There have been no reports of injury so far.

The recalled products were sold in hardware stores including Lowe's, Home Depot and Sears.
