Michaels Stores Recalls Silver Tree Tealight Candle Holders

Washington, DC: Michaels Stores Inc, is recalling about 7,600 silver tree tealight candle holders in the US and a further 650 in Canada, because the tealight cups are positioned where the flame from the candles can ignite other parts of the candle holder, posing fire and burn hazards to consumers.

Michaels has received reports of six incidents including five fires and a consumer who received minor burns.

This recall involves silver-colored tealight candle holders in a shape of a Christmas tree. The candle holders are about 16-inches tall and have a silver star on the top. Nine tealight cups and clear plastic beads hang from the tree branches.

The silver tree tealight candle holders were sold exclusively at Michaels Arts & Craft stores nationwide from October 2010 through December 2010 for about $20.
