In researching the issue, Battery Biz® discovered a design flaw in a number of its popular OEM products that can under certain conditions cause the battery to short out, posing a fire hazard to consumers.

These batteries were sold by numerous national and regional resellers, retail stores and online from January 2004 through May 2005 costing between $70 and $199 per battery. The batteries are also used by various original equipment manufacturers as the batteries they provide for new systems on an OEM basis. Most however, remain labeled as manufactured by Battery Biz®.

Manufactured in China, Taiwan and Korea, consumers should stop using the batteries immediately and contact Battery Biz® to arrange for a replacement battery free of charge. Consumers should continue using their laptops using regular electrical current until the replacement is obtained.
