Amby Baby Motion Beds Recalled Due to Suffocation Risk
Washington, DC: Amby Baby USA, has recalled its Amby Baby Motion Beds following the suffocation deaths of two infants in the Amby Baby hammock. According to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), a four-month-old girl and a five-month-old boy each died in a baby hammock in 2009. The CPSC notes that the side-to-side movement of the hammock can cause the infant to roll and become wedged against the hammock's fabric, potentially causing suffocation.
Approximately 24,000 units are affected by the recall. There is only one model of the hammock, which has a label sewn it that reads, "Amby--Babies Love It, Naturally." The recalled hammocks were sold online at Ambybaby.com and other Internet retailers between January 2003 and October 2009.
