Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America Recalls 15,000 Medium Duty Trucks

On June 28, 2005 Mitsubishi Fuso Truck of America issued a recall for approximately 15,000 Medium Duty trucks due to the fact that there have been multiple reports of the rear engine bracket, which is made of composite materials, failing and allowing the transmission to drop out of alignment with the drive train.

Presumably, such an incident can cause the driver to loose control of the vehicle, if not sustain possible injuries should the parts involved become overheated or other damage occurs as a result of this bracket failure. Dealers will begin replacing the brackets in September 2005.

The following Models are affected:

Make / Models : Model/Build Years: MITSUBISHI FUSO / FE639 1999-2004 MITSUBISHI FUSO / FE640 2001-2004 MITSUBISHI FUSO / FE649 1999-2004 MITSUBISHI FUSO / FH210 2003-2004

Consumers are urged to contact Mitsubishi Fuso if they own one of the models effected, and to report any incidents to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
