Ford Recalls Various Model 2006 Expeditions SUV's Due to Tire Damage

On July 6th, 2005 Ford Motor Company announced a recall, to begin July 15, 2005, for certain Expedition Sport Utility Vehicles due to reports that the tires on the driver's side of the vehicle may have been damaged at the center tread during the vehicles factory production.

Over time, the damage could be sufficient to allow belt corrosion which can ultimately lead to tire separation, which could result in a crash.

The following Model 2006 model year Ford Expeditions included in this recall are as follows:

Expedition Eddie Bauer; Expedition Eddie Bauer 4X4; Expedition King Ranch; Expedition King Ranch 4X4; Expedition Limited; Expedition Limited 4X4; Expedition XLS; Expedition XLS 4X4; Expedition XLT; Expedition XLT 4X4; Expedition XLT Sport; Expedition XLT Sport 4X4.

Dealers will have all four tires inspected which ensures complete inspection in case the tires may have been rotated since purchasing the SUV. They will look for any signs of tire tread damage and upon finding a damaged tire, will replace it at no cost to the consumer. The recall is expected to begin on July 15th, 2005 and owners of the noted SUV's are urged to contact Ford to arrange for an inspection.
