Dollar General Corp. Announce Recall of 80,000 Metal Heart-Shaped Pendants
On May 12, 2005 Dollar General Corp of Goodlettsville, Tennessee announced the recall of approximately 80,000 metal heart shaped pendants due to the fact that the metal in the pendants contains unusually high levels of lead and poses a serous lead poisoning threat to young children. Lead poisoning has been associated with a host of behavioral, learning, hearing and growth problems in children.
To date no injuries have been reported.
The heart-shaped pendant is silver-colored, ribbed on the front, hollow on the back, and hangs on a pink suede cord with a silver-colored clasp and was sold exclusively through Dollar General stores nationwide from may 2003 and April 2005 for about one dollar each.
Manufactured in China, parents should take these necklaces away from their children and return them to their Dollar General Store for a refund.
