Female Tenants Targeted

Washington, DC: (Mar-20-08) The US Department of Justice brought a lawsuit against Ersil James, a former maintenance worker at three Missouri apartment complexes in Platte City and Smithville. The suit, filed in the US District Court for the Western District of Missouri, claimed that Ersil James sexually harassed female tenants, thereby violating the Fair Housing Act.

The suit also named Action Management & Consulting Services LLC, which manages the subject properties, and its on-site manager Dan Miller, accusing them of discrimination in failing to take action to prevent defendant James from continuing to harass female tenants. The lawsuit also alleges that the owners of some of the complexes, Missouri Rural Housing of Platte City L.P. and its general partner, MACO Management Co. Inc., were liable for those actions.

Officials on both sides stated that as part of a settlement reached, a consent decree, pending approval by the court, will require the defendants to pay $75,000 to four victims and $20,000 to the United States to vindicate the public interest litigation. Apart from the monetary payout, defendants are required to establish an anti harassment policy and provide training to employees. [YAHOO NEWS: JUSTICE DEPARTMENT SETTLES SEXUAL HARASSMENT CASE]

I myself have filed a HUD complaint for discrimination , harassment, threats etc which resulted ultimately in financial debt and my service animal Mina May a innocent 4 year old Maltese who died 6/7/15 due to an illegal eviction notice. Maltese dogs are fragile and cannot be outside dogs. Maco Property Group property manager for Sikeston Mo was emailed by myself making a formal complaint against this property manager. They are immensely unprofessional as they refused to even acknowledge the two emails. Therefore I filed a formal complaint with HUD and feel heard and know they will stop this from happening to other disabled people. my Mina was priceless. My grief overwhelming. This company I would not rent from even if I was homeless. They took more from me than they will ever comprehend. No amount of money will ever bring my sense of security back, my independence and more importantly my service dog who I rescued and innately just knew how to divert my harmful ocd disorder among all other disorders she even lowered my blood pressure. She was priceless. My time at SIKESTON PHASE 1 housing cost me everything. Please do your research and act immediately if you are treated this way.
