Dog Bite

Harrisburg, PA: (Nov-27-07) Timothy and Lisa Swink of Lewisberry filed charges against Gregory and Debi Sheffer, alleging that their daughter Emily, sustained injuries after the Sheffers' German shepherd bit the girl during a picnic. Sources stated that Emily was 6 when she was bitten by the dog while at a picnic at a Dillsburg property owned by Gregory and Debi Sheffer in July 2003. The Swinks claimed that Emily, now 11, still retains scars from the incident.

As part of a settlement reached, a Cumberland County judge ordered a $110,000 insurance settlement, resolving the dispute. The settlement, which resulted from negotiations with the Sheffers' insurer, Erie Insurance Exchange, calls for the girl to receive distributions from the accord at age 18 and from ages 21 to 25.
