Internet Phone Patent

New York, NY: (Nov-09-07) AT&T brought charges against internet phone company Vonage, alleging that the company infringed AT&T's patents. The suit is said to represent the last of the major litigation filed against Vonage for infringing on patents. AT&T claimed Vonage violated a patent which allows users to access an Internet phone system through a standard phone. Records show that the company settled with both Verizon and Sprint in October 2007. As part of a settlement reached, sources confirmed that Vonage has agreed to pay AT&T $39 million over five years. The announcement of the settlement came as Vonage announced its third-quarter results, which included a net loss of $161.8 million, $133 million of which included litigation costs.
