Internet Patent

Seattle, WA: (Oct-10-07) Microsoft Corp. and Eolas Technologies Inc. had been embroiled in a patent infringement battle, which was resolved when the two companies reached a settlement. The lawsuit had the University of California named as a plaintiff because it licensed to Eolas the technology at the center of the high profile dispute. The lawsuit, in US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, was settled in August 2007. The issue stemmed from a dispute involving technology used in Internet Explorer. Though terms of the settlement were not disclosed, it was made known that the University of California received $30.4 million as a result of it. Eolas's payout to Microsoft was separate from the Microsoft- University of California settlement. [SEATTLE POST INTELLIGENCER: INTERNET PATENT]
