Racial Discrimination

York, PA: (Oct-06-07) The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) brought charges against Eagle Alloys, which was doing business as American Eagle Wheel, on behalf of Angelita Sanchez, alleging that the York wheel manufacturer racially harassed and retaliated against her. The suit claimed that Sanchez was wrongfully terminated after she complained about a supervisor using a racial slur.

As part of a settlement reached, the company agreed to pay Sanchez $15,000 to resolve the lawsuit. Along with the money for Sanchez, the settlement requires the company to provide annual training for managers, supervisors and employees about discrimination and unlawful retaliation. Additionally, the settlement ordered the company to post information about employees' rights under federal anti-discrimination laws and provide occasional reports to the commission.
