In a settlement reached, BioForm Medical agreed to pre-pay all future royalty obligations to Artes Medical, by making two payments totaling $5.5 million. San Diego-based Artes and San Mateo-based BioForm stated that the payments will replace any future royalty obligation of BioForm to Artes Medical under a 2005 settlement and license agreement between the companies.
