Jumpit ASA

London, UK: (Aug-10-07) Jumpit ASA, a mobile chargers and batteries manufacturer, brought a patent infringement lawsuit against ESI. The suit was filed over a license agreement that allowed ESI to exploit Jumpit ASA's patent to manufacture, distribute, market, and sell its disposable battery products. In a settlement reached, Jumpit ASA reached an out-of-court settlement with ESI, in which it agreed to pay $200,000 to resolve the lawsuit. Jumpit ASA has instructed its patent advisors to seek re-examination of its US patent from the US Patent Office, which it believes will resolve queries on whether its disposable batteries are protected by the patent or not. Jumpit said the settlement relates to certain business expenses incurred by ESI during the course of its performance under the terms of a license agreement between the companies.
