Jason Janega

Chicago, IL: (Apr-17-07) The family of Tiffany Baier filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Jason Janega, 35, after he struck Baier and left her to die by the side of the road. Janega's car hit Baier as she was walking a few blocks away from home. After the accident took place, the suit accused Janega of not stopping or calling for any assistance, resulting in the death of the Geneva High School teenager. In a settlement reached, Janega agreed to pay the Baier family $265,000. The money is allocated to Tiffany's parents, Theresa and David, as well as her adult brother, Anthony, and her sister, Courtney, who was only 12 years old at the time of the accident. The settlement is $15,000 more than the cap on Janega's insurance policy. [DAILY HERALD: HIT AND RUN]
