Greenville, SC: (Feb-14-07) Rebecca Ann Hilliard sued Landair Transport, Great West Casualty, and Axis Surplus Insurance for being contributors to her husband's wrongful death. The suit alleges Glen Hilliard's Harley Davidson collided with a Landair Transport tractor-trailer that was trying to make a left turn.
Rebecca Hilliard claimed records showed that the truck driver was not wearing corrective lenses in violation of a license restriction. The lawsuit also claimed a tire on the trucks axle was flat and that the driver was fatigued, lost or confused. The three companies have agreed to pay $3.5 million to settle the lawsuit.
